Understanding Your Symptoms
Low energy, reduced libido, changes in sexual function, mood changes, sleep concerns, or changes in body composition can have many possible causes. These symptoms do not necessarily mean that testosterone is low or that testosterone therapy is appropriate.
A licensed clinician will evaluate the complete clinical picture and may recommend laboratory testing, additional evaluation, lifestyle changes, treatment, or referral based on your individual needs.
What Your Evaluation May Include
Health history, symptoms, current medications, prior treatment, and personal goals
Relevant medical and family-history risk factors
Review of available laboratory results or new testing when clinically appropriate
Discussion of possible benefits, risks, alternatives, and monitoring requirements
Assessment of whether additional evaluation or specialist referral is appropriate
Testosterone Therapy
Testosterone therapy may be considered only when the treating clinician identifies a recognized medical indication supported by the required clinical evaluation and laboratory findings. More than one morning laboratory test may be required before treatment can be considered.
Testosterone is not prescribed solely to increase muscle strength, support bodybuilding, improve athletic performance, or achieve a preferred laboratory target.
Tell your clinician if fertility is a current or future goal because it may affect testing, treatment choices, and whether referral is appropriate.
Ongoing Care
If treatment is clinically appropriate, your clinician will explain the care plan, monitoring requirements, potential benefits and risks, and recommended follow-up timing. Treatment may be adjusted or discontinued based on your response, laboratory findings, safety considerations, or changes in your health.
